I haven't been online much lately...well, scratch that, I've been online but mostly lurking, because the last several weeks have been very demanding and stressful and awful and it was just one awful thing after another and we couldn't just catch a break and I haven't had the state of mind to post about that, much less post about the good things that had managed to poke through all the crap.

But today's postings about the loss of [personal profile] simons_flower ...I'm so sorry for the loss all of you are experiencing right now.  I didn't know her or ever read much of her work, because I rarely read stories that aren't H/G...but I know she had to have been a beautiful, wonderful person just by the simple fact of all the beautiful, wonderful people who are mourning her loss.  I'm so sorry and wish I could comfort each and every one of you.  My thoughts and prayers are with all of you and her family.

*HUGS*

Dear Lord, there are some awesome Star Trek fanfics out there right now.  [livejournal.com profile] trek_news  has been my new best friend while I wait for my H/G writers to be inspired and update. ;)

But seriously, if you enjoyed the movie even a little bit at all, you must read this fic: It's 10 o'clock, do you know where your First Officer is?

OMG, drunk!Spock and SPACEBOOK!  So, so funny and crack!tastic and awesome. :)

Enjoy!

I have video of Ryleigh gettin' down to this that I would normally post all at the same time, but this is TOO EFFING' GOOD not to share now!!!

Beatbox is really hard to do well, but these guys have it down to an ART FORM and to top it all off, have some SICK flute playing as well!

Seriously, watch this video NOW!!!

I'll post Ryleigh's interpretation of this music tomorrow at some point. :D

I am posting via my kindle, which is interesting to say the least...we're having a blast, buy my dad apparently fell last night when taking out the dogs, and broke his arm in 2 places. :headdesk: My mom is saying for us not to come home early but we might anyway. The guilt is pretty intense, even though it's not our fault and there's nothing we can do other than come home a bit early tomorrow, which we were planning on anyway. :sigh: I hope all is going well with y'all.

I hate insomnia.

In other words...while I'm sleepless in non-Seattle...

I am attempting to make this quilt for my mom for Christmas.  It's going OK so far, and damn, the fabrics are just gorgeous, lthough with such a number of different fabrics, I really wish they'd printed a *full* picture of the quilt for those of us who want to recreate is "as is".  *stews*

*contemplates just staying up at this point, since I have to be up in less than 3 hours anyway*not

Not that I've been feeling much like it lately...

* My former HS classmate who's son was kidnapped by his mother...Apparently, they found him unharmed in NYC with her the day after I posted. According to the paper, she was arrested and he was returned to his father/my old classmate.  I'm assuming that all is well, within reason, although I have serious issue with what sort of person would put their child through a trauma like that.  *suppresses rant*  But I'm glad he was found unharmed and I hope he's given the help that he needs to get through this drama in his life.

* My friend's BIL/another classmate of mine... who is dying of stomach cancer...is apparently in hospice at his house and has either weeks/maybe months left to live.

*FUCK!!!*

Seriously, he's a good guy.  This totally brings me back to when I lost Kathlyn (it was the same week that Tiger Woods won his first Open or whatever ...  [the one where they win the green blazer that's like the "top o' the top' in golf in the US  .I forget the actual name for that tournament;] the girl in New Jersey gave birth AT THE PROM to a baby she then stuffed in a trash can and went back to dancing or whatever and the couple from U of DE went on trial for stuffing their newborn son in a dumpster after giving birth to him in a motel room) and all I wanted to do was give my baby a chance at life (that was practically non-existent) and it seemed like everyone was throwing their babies in the garbage.

WHY is he dying at 37/38 when he's a GOOD MAN, a TEACHER and lacrosse coach and a productive member of society, who loves his wife and children, pays his taxes and just wants to EXIST, while scum bags who don't give a shit about nuthin are left to roam the earth and fuck other people up.

IT'S NOT FAIR!!!!

I am really having a hard time reconciling this, so I maybe quiet for awhile to process...

Wow.

I have to say that I am stunned that California is ahead on the "yes on Prop 8" vote, as I drunkenly make my way to bed.

That's just Batshit-insane-CRAZY!!!

*I am really hoping that the vote swings around the way it's supposed to by the time I wake up....*

The tantrum I'm suffering through listening to right now is so worth the fact that I didn't have to stand in line to vote.  I got Ryleigh up early so that I could drive RJ to school (normally my mom does so she can sleep in and we're all much happier the rest of the day) and then vote right after.

Time for a nap.

GO VOTE!!!!

I only have one more pic to post for today, and it also qualifies for the meme that [livejournal.com profile] luvscharlie posted tonight, so here ya go:

Meme (of sorts) gacked from [livejournal.com profile] luvscharlie :

1. Stop talking about politics for a moment or two.
2. Post a reasonably-sized picture in your LJ, NOT under a cut tag, of something pleasant, such as an adorable kitten, or a fluffy white cloud, or a bottle of booze. Something that has NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS.
3. Include these instructions, and share the love

This is RJ and Ryleigh tonight, watching Wubzy on the computer before we go up to read books and go to bed:

Isn't he just the awesomest big brother ever?  I hope he never changes.  *loves my kids to pieces*.

And, my new obsession tonight?  [livejournal.com profile] harry_questions .  [livejournal.com profile] harry_questions   [livejournal.com profile] harry_questions   [livejournal.com profile] harry_questions   [livejournal.com profile] harry_questions   [livejournal.com profile] harry_questions

As the com says: This is a communtiy dedicated to any question you might have about the Harry Potter series. Big or small, don't be afraid to ask!

So much fun!

Ok, my gigantic, massive, humongous picspam post is going to have to wait until tomorrow, because I just finished rotating and tagging all my pics on photobucket. 110 just from today's adventure to Longwood Gasrdens.    o.O

But!  WTF?  I've started downloading and watching Bones episodes over the last week, in a desperate attempt to find decent shows to watch.  I really love Kathy Reichs' books, and when it was first on, I couldn't separate the books from the TV show, so I watched the first episode way back when and I've ignored it until now.  But, DAMN IT ALL!!! the effing show has made me (and Ryan, on the "The graft in the girl" ep from S1) CRY more than any other show I've watched in awhile!  Plus, I'm really invested in the characters now.  *sigh*  Once I decided to not correlate the books to the tv show, it's a pretty darn good show!

Ok, I really need to go to bed now.

*hugs*
